We earnestly request that the media observe the anonymity of the families we serve. It is our hearts desire to be helpful and considerate to the welfare of the many children involved in this mission.

1 new family of 3

We have such an awesome group of kids that show up EVERY week to help us out. Kyle rode with Phil on the food run. Actually, he asked if he could help. How cool is that? Lensie has become the CEO of food box organization. That young lady has it down to a pat as my mother would say. Hunter and Kayden were our muscle helping to carry boxes to the cars. Rachel and her daughter were there to give us a hand along with some comedy on the side. We had a new family of three come to us for the first time. How cool is that? We even were given a bottle of homemade tomato juice! We are so blessed to be a part of this ministry. I wish I could adequately describe in words the love and appreciation that we have for these families. God is good ALL the time and we are honored to be able to serve Him by serving such incredibly amazing folks!

Southwest Recovery Mission Ministries has received 501(c)3 tax exempt organization status. Thank you to all who donated the money for the application fee and for those who prayed and continue to pray for the ministry. God is working so much within the ministry and within the community. We are beyond blessed by his love!

We had an excellent day serving food boxes to the families. Phil Jessop did the food run with Kayden. We had some awesome produce! The group of teens that help us out each week are the best! We had a new teenage helper join us for the first time. He fit right in! We are so blessed by and proud of our group of teens that show up EVERY week! They are just a blast to serve with! We are so blessed to serve God in this ministry! As my (Donna) 85 year old mother said about the families here, “There is just SO much love! There is nothing like it anywhere in Chicago”. She is right but please don’t tell her I said that because I will never hear the end of it! LOL! This ministry is part of a community that is growing in love. After all, the 2nd greatest commandment is to love thy neighbor! We, at SWRM, truly do love each person that walks through our doors. We are so very, very blessed!

God continues to bring people who are in need. This week he brought us 6 new families with a total additional 65 people. What better way to celebrate Valentine’s than being able to share God’s love and mercy. Please pray for these families as God shows them that there are people that truly care about them. Thank you all for your continual prayers and donations. You are truly a blessing!

It was such a wonderful day today. Once the food arrived we were buzzing around like bees getting everything sorted, organized and ready for our families. It never ceases to amaze and humble us how awesome God is. He blesses this ministry in EVERY way. The families we serve are such a blessing to us. We are honored tobe able to serve them. We have seen first hand a community grow within those that come on Thursdays. It has been so great to watch and be a part of. As a ministry we are asked what we do that makes our ministry grow as it does. It is quite simple. #1 keep God first and #2 show the love of Christ to EVERYONE. We are here to serve the Lord by serving these families. It is an honor and a privilege for each of us. To all who support us and lift us up in prayer– thank you. Blessings to all!!!!

The sun was shining and the temp was near 60! Beautiful day to serve our families. We are all blessed by these folks and it is a humbling honor to serve our Lord in such a manner. We had a new family of 4 come to us today. We welcomed them with hugs and a box of food. They were even able to find some very much needed clothing items for their children. Thank you to all who continue to support us as we reach more and more families. Together we ARE making a difference! God bless. Donna

We would like to thank all of you who have been a part of Southwest Recovery Mission. As 2014 comes to a close, we take a look back at the year and thank God for all his provisions. This has been an amazing year serving a community of amazing people. The number of families and the total number of people we have been given the blessing to serve has doubled in the last 6 months alone; we’ve grown from 32 families of 242 in January 2014 to 166 families of 1268 at the end of December 2014. As always, while we are thrilled to be able to provide food and clothing to these families, it still is heartbreaking to know there are still so many struggling. We hope and pray in the months to come that more will see that we are here for them, whatever their need may be. As we have gotten to spend time getting to know our families, they have made their way into the deepest part of our hearts and we are very blessed to be able to call them our friends. We thank you for your prayers and ask that you continue to pray as the community faces changes in the coming year. We wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and many blessings for 2015.
